EICA Program

The program for Internationalization and Academic Cooperation Liaisons (EICA, for its acronym in Spanish) has the objective of training colleagues from the various academic departments and staff and management offices of the Universidad Iberoamericana to work —jointly with the Academic Cooperation and Internationalization Division (DICA, for its acronym in Spanish)— in the management of internationalization efforts inside the areas they represent.

Profile of EICA Liaisons

  • Teacher or administrative staff of a unit, academic department or administrative office of the Universidad Iberoamericana.
  • Commit to devoting eight hours a month to activities determined by the Office of the Academic Vice-Chancellor for tasks and activities defined for each unit.
  • Ideally, have intermediate command of the English language.
  • Keep abreast of the needs of the unit being represented and of the internationalization, mobility and academic cooperation activities of the teachers, administrative staff and students that comprise it.

Main Duties

1. Act as focal points between that DICA and academia, to:

a) Know the guidelines to establish linkages, agreements and processes for the mobility of students, teachers, and staff, and to set up academic chairs, networks and consortia.

b) Share with the DICA the processes and internal requirements of your areas for undertaking such activities (type of agreements desired, number of mobility credits, language requirements, etc.)

c) Support departments and/or coordinating units in the review and authorization of possible new accords or internationalization agreements.

2. Communicate internationalization activities inside your area and externally:

a) Collect and share with the DICA information on the internationalization activities carried out by your unit. This, to maintain an updated registry of all activities.

b) Promote the sharing of information inside the EICA network, to identify common objectives and work collaboratively.

c) Communicate internationalization opportunities among teachers, administrative staff and students that form part of your unit.

3. Strengthen your competencies and remain up to date on internationalization and academic cooperation issues:

a) Participate in training sessions to enhance abilities and keep EICA participants updated.
